Summer officially begins as The Sun runs its annual ‘Shark spotted off coast of Cornwall’ story
7 years agoGREAT NEWS! It’s time to break out the beach towels and tanning lotion as The Sun has OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED SUMMER by running its annual “A Great White Shark Has Been Spotted Off The Coast Of Cornwall” story.
Nobody can be exactly sure when this great British tradition started, but observers believe it may have been as long as FIFTEEN YEARS AGO.
Sun reader Simon Williams had this to say: “Fantastic! Since about the 1st of June I’ve been on the edge of my seat waiting for the summer to officially begin, and now it’s finally here. Fantastic!
“We’ve had some good weather in the last week, but it’s never really the summer until The Sun tells us that there is a shark off going about off the coast of Cornwall. Well now the shark story is here!”
“I’m off to buy a vest and a knotted handkerchief to wear down the beach. I’m going to be as red a boiled lobster by the end of the day, and you can take that to the bank!”
But does Mr Williams ACTUALLY BELIEVE that a great white shark has been spotted off the coast of Cornwall, or is it all just a load of old bollocks?
“Who cares? It’s summer!”
It seems that this GREAT BRITISH TRADITION isn’t going to be dying out anytime soon, so get down to your local seaside resort and get your JAWS around a plateful of fish n chips.
And remember, it’s all thanks to your SUPER SOARAWAY SUN!
