Cardiff City have made a strong start to their return to the top flight, storming to fifth place in the Premier League.

The Bluebirds, the bookies’ favourites for relegation, are already in a Europa League place, ahead of title hopefuls Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Fan Simon Williams said, “We’re over the moon”.

Fellow newcomers Fulham are also enjoying a top half start to the season, though newly promoted Wolves are propping up the table, facing a swift return to the Championship despite spending heavily during the transfer window.

Champions Manchester City can currently only manage a lowly 13th place, a position that sees Pep Guardiola’s job hanging by a thread, with owner Sheikh Mansour rumoured to be already searching for his replacement.

AFC Bournemouth lead the 2018/19 table, but in controversial fashion, with many Arsenal fans claiming that their side should be top, as Bournemouth begins with a ‘B’.

Cardiff City will play their first match tomorrow.
