Nationwide now offering 30-year mortgages for 1st Class Stamps
7 months ago
Nationwide Building Society has extended its range of mortgages for postage stamps to 30 years, after Royal Mail’s latest price rises made them unaffordable over the usual 25.
Yet another price rise has seen more and more people stop sending birthday cards with fivers in them, because it’s embarrassing to have more value on the outside of the card than the inside.
Consumer Simon Williams defended the rises, “I went into my local Post Office this morning to post a Mother’s Day card to my mum. I know, I know, I’ve not gone early enough, but I forgot to send it in January 2023, as we were advised, to guarantee it gets there sometime in 2026.
“I really don’t see the problem with the price rises though. I got in to see their on-site mortgage consultant and it only took four hours to go through the paperwork.
“Luckily, I’m a successful investment banker so my salary just creeped over the minimum salary allowed to be able to qualify for the 30-year term.”
When asked if he was happy with the book of stamps he purchased, he continued, “Book?! I’ll be lucky! No, I could only borrow enough for the one.
“Second class.”
