Next series of ‘Race Across The World’ will see contestants attempt to travel from Sheffield to Bristol with Cross Country Trains
1 year agoThe producers of popular BBC TV show, Race Across The World, have revealed details of their most gruelling journey to date, as contestants compete to get from Sheffield to Bristol using Cross Country Trains.
A spokesperson for the programme has said, “We’ve covered a wide range of global challenges over many a distance, from the Far East to the Rocky Mountains.
“But nothing, literally nothing, can be more challenging than travelling a relatively small distance in England with an overpriced, overcrowded and barely functioning train operator, and we’re really excited to see if such a feat is even possible.
“With all the cancellations, delays and general incompetence Cross Country are known and loved for, this series could drag on for months!”
Previously, contestants have been tasked with travelling 5000 miles over land with only the cost of a flight to spend, however, given the price of a train ticket from Sheffield to Bristol, it is not known if the BBC budget will actually stretch that far.
According to a close source, “A flight ticket from, say, London to Kolkata wouldn’t even cover Sheffield to Derby with Cross Country.
“We’re going to have to enforce a rule that contestants can only travel with Cross Country Trains.
“Otherwise we’ll give them the rail fare and they’ll end up spending it on private limousines and buggering off to a 5 star resort in Spain for 12 weeks to avoid having to cram onto a crowded and sweaty train carriage!
“And let’s face it – who can blame them?
