After years of controversial allegations against him, comedian Russell Brand has confessed today that he did shoot the sheriff, but that the sheriff was 16 at the time of the incident, and that it was a consensual act.

In a podcast interview, Brand admitted that the shooting was “exploitative”, but stressed that nothing about it was technically illegal.

“There was a strong power differential, what with me pointing a gun at him, but I was a lot younger at the time and a very different person.”

Brand added that although he is admitting that he shot the sheriff, the allegations about him shooting the deputy are “completely 100% false” and no connection with him shooting the sheriff should be made with this alleged second incident.

The comedian explained: “So just because after years of allegations about me I’ve finally admitted to this one thing that is obviously really dodgy and right at the very edge of what is legal, doesn’t mean that I’ve done anything else, and I’m in no way preparing the ground to lessen the impact of any further revelations that definitely won’t be coming out about me shooting the deputy.

“Because I did not shoot the deputy. Pinky promise. Scout’s honour.

“Just ask Bear Grylls.”
