Half-and-half scarves at football matches to become criminal offence
7 months ago
Wearing half-and-half scarves at football matches will become a criminal offence under new laws that come into force before Sunday’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley.
With news emerging earlier that tailgating at matches is set to become illegal, further news has now emerged that the far more serious offence of wearing a half-and-half scarf will also become an offence, with a potential prison sentences for the most egregious offenders.
A Spokesperson for the FA welcomed the news earlier, telling reporters, “Something needed to be done.
“We can confirm today that we fully support the proposals to make half-and-half scarves illegal, and we will support the police in any way we can to eradicate this scourge from our national game.
“For far too long now, mindless idiots have attended games wearing these hideous things, often purchased from unscrupulous dealers outside the ground, preying on people’s stupidity.
“This can then directly impact the safety of other fans who become furious at the sight of these scarves, and simply want to hit someone.
“Well, now it’s time to stop and properly punish those involved in such sacrilegious behaviour.”
Asked what punishment they feel a person should receive for wearing a half and half scarf we were told, “Let’s put it in perspective, we’re not talking rapists here, so for a first offence, maybe just 3 -5 in years prison.”
