Universal concedes plans for a Schindler’s List-themed roller coaster were in bad taste

Universal Studios have scrapped plans for a Schindler’s List-themed roller coaster at their new theme park in Bedfordshire after agreeing the attraction may not go down that well with the patrons.
Plans for a Universal Studios theme park in Bedfordshire were confirmed this week, though it will not be including any attractions based on Steven Spielberg’s 1993 masterpiece.
“I’ll admit it wasn’t my finest hour,” said Universal Studios executive Simon Williams.
“I’ve learnt that just because you own the rights to something doesn’t mean it should be made into a theme park ride. The focus groups made that blatantly clear.
“I actually hadn’t seen the film. I just know it made a lot of money for Universal and thought it would be a good idea to capitalise on it. In hindsight, I probably should’ve at least Googled who Oskar Schindler was before pitching the idea for the roller coaster.
“Don’t worry. I still have plenty of ideas for attractions. Universal owns the rights to a plethora of movies. I’m sure I can find something profitable in our catalogue. I see here that Fifty Shades of Grey made a lot of money. That might make a good theme for the kids area.
“No, I haven’t seen it. Why? What’s it about?”
