Diner waiting patiently for scientists to grow his steak on back of mouse

A diner is sitting patiently in a restaurant whilst he waits for scientists to grow his steak on the back of mouse.

The Food Standards Agency is currently looking at ways to speed up the approval for lab-grown meat, though in the meantime customers will have to wait at their table.

“The restaurant said it’s going to take about two years,” diner Simon Williams told us. “I’m happy to wait. You should never rush the chef.

“I need to be careful not to fill up on bread sticks, though. Two years is the rough estimate, but knowing my, luck the steak will be here in 18 months.

“I’ve been told Squeakers grows an excellent cut of rib eye on his back, so I’m really looking forward to tasting it in 700 days’ time.

“My friends are a bit annoyed. They just want to go home. I don’t see the problem. It’s not like I’ve ordered a dessert when no one else wants one.

“I’ve also told them it’s rude to start eating before everyone’s meal has arrived. If my memory serves me right, Darren’s carbonara started getting mould on it a couple of weeks ago.

“Tough shit. They’re the ones who wanted to eat out in the first place.”
