Oleksandr Usyk has been given an additional belt by the boxing authorities for enduring Anthony Joshua’s post-fight speech last night.
The Ukrainian retained his heavyweight titles after winning by split decision against Anthony Joshua last night in front of fans in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
But in a post-match speech, Joshua interrupted the celebrations to talk about his weight and former boxers, before leading the crowd in three cheers for Usyk.
The waffling speech has now earned Usyk a brand new belt in “Painful Endurance”.
A spokesman for the World Boxing Association said, “Oleksandr took a few punches last night, but we all know that nothing compares to enduring utter cringe, on live television in front of millions.
“Joshua’s speech was waffle for the ages, and we commend Usyk for not grabbing the mic out of his hand and telling him to f*** off.”
However, some have disputed Usyk’s claim to the title.
Boxing expert John Rice said, “Usyk’s English isn’t the best, which means many other viewers unfortunately had to hear the whole thing.
“Usyk got off lightly compared to the millions watching at home. And we know for a fact that they can endure some painful nonsense.”
Usyk may now go on to fight Tyson Fury, whose own post match ramblings have led many to believe the Painful Endurance belt was a boxing necessity.
