Corporate Twitter account offers heartfelt copy and paste of Marvin Gaye quote in support of #BlackLivesMatter

A corporate Twitter account has demonstrated its support of the #BlackLivesMatter movement with a heartfelt copy and paste of a Marvin Gaye quote from What’s Going On.

“At times like this, we recognise that some of our clients may be black,” explained Simon Williams, social media strategist for Dallin, Fahey and Woodward Solutions Ltd.

“As such, it is important that we register our awareness of events taking place across the country and offer something that could be seen as solidarity with black people and their current issues.

“After some discussion, it was decided that a heartfelt copy and paste of a Marvin Gaye quote into a tweet would be both uncontroversial and relevant.

“We considered a Martin Luther King quote, but that would have been a bit too political, and a Public Enemy one, but they are really quite shouty.”

The tweet simply read – ‘You know we’ve got to find a way, to bring some lovin’ here today, oh oh oh’ – Marvin Gaye

“I found it on Wikipedia,” continued Mr Williams.

“I was going to add a picture of Marvin Gaye but there were issues with image rights, and I wanted to move fast.

“I hope this tweet helps people recognise that we have black people as clients and that we care.”

If the demonstrations continue, Mr Williams plans a heartfelt copy and paste of a Muhammad Ali quote for a tweet on Thursday, just after a notification that some services may be unavailable over the weekend due to server maintenance.
