Diana Ross ‘would take another penalty’ at World Cup 2026

After a catastrophic penalty miss at the World Cup in 1994, Diana Ross has said that she will step up to the spot again in 2026 if asked.
The ex-Supremes singer, who will be 82 when football’s largest tournament returns to North America in eight years’ time, has said that although the miss at Chicago’s Soldier Field shook her confidence, she would have no fears about making the long walk up to the penalty spot again.
“Look at Stuart Pearce,” explained the Motown star. “In tears after putting one straight down the middle at the keeper in Italia 90, but came storming back in Euro 96 to blast one past Spain.
“Bottom right. Wallop! Pick that one out of the onion bag, Pedro.
“I’m going to channel some of that ‘Psycho’ spirit. Twelve yards out. Just me versus the keeper. Arrivederci it’s one on one.
“And if I miss again I can always make a Pizza Hut advert.”
