Enzo Maresca confident he can break Pep Guardiola’s record of financial breaches

Prospective Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has assured fans he can exceed Pep Guardiola’s all-time Premier League record of 115 financial rule breaches and that he is “ready to take the club’s fiscal creativity to bold new levels”.
With Guardiola set to leave City in the summer, speculation has swirled over who might succeed the club’s record-breaking manager, and Maresca is seen as the leading candidate.
“I know there are people who think 115 charges is untouchable,” Maresca told reporters. “But I never accept limits. If the club asks me for 130 charges, I’ll deliver 140. That’s just my mentality.”
However, some fans have expressed concerns that Maresca might lack Guardiola’s ability to completely dominate accounting loopholes.
“Yeah, he’s studied under Pep,” said Simon Williams, a diehard City fan and longtime season ticket holder.
“And he did well to bend the rules at Leicester and Chelsea, but this is City, and when it comes to financial breaches we’re on a totally different planet.”
According to club sources, Maresca is well aware of the fans’ concerns and is eager to get ahead of potential unrest should he be appointed.
“Listen, I’ve spent the last few months analysing loopholes in sponsorship regulations, hidden payments and how to sell assets back to ourselves without raising suspicion,” said Maresca.
Club insiders say Maresca has already requested six new analysts, three offshore consultants and a set-piece coach dedicated exclusively to amortisation schedules.
Reacting to Maresca’s statement on ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast, Gary Lineker said, “You’ve got to admire the ambition. But he has huge shoes to fill.
“Anyone can win trophies with unlimited money, but it takes a special person like Guardiola to turn financial misconduct into a dynasty.”
