Andy Burnham to cap the number of times bus drivers can pretend they didn’t see you

Andy Burnham is set to cap the number of times bus drivers are allowed to drive past pretending they didn’t see you, it has been revealed today.

With news emerging earlier that all bus fares will be capped at £2, further news has now emerged that bus drivers will also be forced to wait an extra five seconds when they see someone running for their bus, instead of just driving off and ignoring them, like they usually do.

Commenting on the news, bus driver Simon Williams told us, “This is a step too far if you ask me.

“I can understand the cap on prices, but making us actually stop to pick up customers who are rushing to make it to the stop is just taking it too far altogether.

“We don’t get paid a huge amount as a bus driver, so we have to take our little pleasures where can, and I like nothing more than spotting someone running for a bus and then pretending I didn’t see them before driving off with a little smirk.

“Obviously I am aware that most people may be trying to get to work on time, or maybe to get home to their families, but quite frankly, that means nothing to me. I’m on a tight schedule, and waiting an extra five seconds will really affect my timings, and deprive me a brief moment where I feel truly alive.”

Asked if it would actually matter if he waited for a few seconds, given the amount of traffic on the roads these days, we were told, “Well, I also think it’s very funny driving off, too.”
