I meant ‘leave my family alone’ in the mafia sense of the word, clarifies Nigel Farage

After telling Sky News to ‘leave his family alone’, Farage has clarified he meant ‘family’ in the mafia sense of the word, meaning anyone in his grifting circle who contributes financially to the Farage finances.
Sky News approached Farage on his return to London from a Clacton constituency surgery yet another US trip, this time for the Independence Day celebrations, to ask him about the funding he received from convicted criminal George Cottrell, leading to Farage insisting the news organisation stay away from ‘his family’.
The implication was that reporters had been harassing relatives of Farage’s, but after Sky News confirmed that no relatives had been approached for comment on this story, a Reform spokesperson said Nigel meant ‘family’ in the mafia sense, in that he didn’t want Sky News approaching anyone who is directly in indirectly contributing to the financial enrichment of Nigel Farage.
A Reform spokesperson told us, “Mr Farage simply asks that members of the family are treated with the respect they deserve.
“They are private individuals who happen, from time to time, to perform small favours for one another, whether that’s arranging a car, paying for a hotel, covering the odd expense or making sure envelopes find their rightful destination.
“We’re a very close-knit organisation. Loyalty is everything, and people who start asking unnecessary questions have an unfortunate habit of finding themselves on the… outside looking in. That’s just how families work.
“If somebody shows generosity towards Nigel, we don’t see why the authorities, journalists or anyone else should concern themselves with the details. One day you may need a favour yourself, capiche?
“And let’s not forget, Mr Cottrell has always been a good friend to the family, just as Mr Harborne has been before him. Around here we never forget those who show generosity to the boss. That’s why it’s considered rather impolite when strangers start asking exactly who paid for what.
“In a proper family, you don’t keep receipts – you keep loyalties.”
