Labour relieved Mandelson’s resignation ‘to avoid causing further embarrassment’ prevented further embarrassment

Labour and Keir Starmer’s government are grateful for disgraced peer Peter Mandelson resigning at the start of the week because he didn’t want to ‘cause further embarrassment’.
“I mean, we really dodged a bullet there,” said one government source.
“If he hadn’t resigned on Monday, he might have caused further embarrassment, and then we’d be in a real pickle. As it stands, though, he did resign and, well, absolutely no further embarrassment occurred at all. Phew!”
Leading political thinker Chris Mason agreed, “When I saw that Mandelson had resigned because he didn’t want to cause further embarrassment, I thought that it would be a real let-off for Keir Starmer and, as ever, I was right.
“That further embarrassment was, crucially, avoided entirely, and now no one, from the back-benchers to the Prime Minister, is even a little bit embarrassed.
“Also, Nigel Farage is brilliant, isn’t he?”
Although Mr Mandelson has made no further comment since resigning, it seems that resigning has avoided causing any further embarrassment for him personally, as well as avoiding further embarrassment for the Labour Party and government, with the picture of him standing around in his pants not being the least bit embarrassing.
