Irony-free Reform supporter who’s spent nine years telling people ‘You lost, get over it!’ now demanding another general election after 15 months

A man who spent the best part of a decade telling anyone who didn’t like how things were going that they ‘lost’ and should ‘get over it’, is rather keen for everyone to pay attention to his calls for a new general election just 15 months after the country democratically chose its new government.

Derek Williams, 57, is a big believer in sovereignty, and insisted the Brexit vote would make the UK democratic again, but also insists his calls for a ‘do-over’ on the general election are in no way hypocritical.

He told reporters, “Yes, I repeatedly and loudly shouted ‘you lost, get over it!’ to anyone who so much as suggested a second referendum on the terms of our Brexit deal. We voted, we won, so they had to accept it, even if they didn’t like it. Especially if they didn’t like it.

“But this is different, because we voted, I lost, and I don’t have to accept it because I don’t like it. If you can’t tell the difference, then you’re an idiot.

“They only wanted a second Brexit referendum because the Brexit being delivered was different to the one promised in the referendum campaign, while I only want a new general election because the government isn’t delivering on the promises it made during its election campaign.”

As the number of online petition signatories creeps ever upwards towards a number that would still be less than a quarter of the number who signed a petition to cancel Article 50, Derek insists it is a sign that the people of this country are fed up and deserve a new general election.

He went on, “Yes, I’ve seen that 19 million people voted against Labour in the general election last July, so yes, technically speaking, if this petition gets fewer than 19 million signatures, the government could argue it is actually more popular than it was in July last year.

“But that’s not the point. The point is that democracy only works when I get my own way. Losing and getting over it is for the other lot.

“Yes it is, shut up.”
