BBC apologises for not cutting away from Glastonbury coverage of Rod Stewart
1 year ago
The BBC has admitted today that it should have cut away from live coverage of a Rod Stewart performance at Glastonbury on Sunday.
With criticism mounting on the BBC for continuing to show live footage of Bob Vylan’s performance, the BBC has acted quickly to offer a full and unreserved apology for not pulling parts of Rod Stewart’s performance, which was definitely more offensive to the public.
A spokesperson for the BBC confirmed “We’re sorry, we should have turned it off.
“The BBC admits it made a mistake in not pulling coverage of Rod Stewart’s performance immediately on Sunday, as soon as he started dancing, and that embarrassing jumping up and down behing the sax player thing.
“Whilst he didn’t incite violence per se, he did clearly cross a line, and made lots of people very uncomfortable indeed.
“Which could have then turned nasty if he’d have carried on facing away from the crowd shaking his arse around with Lulu.
“Obviously the BBC respects freedom of expression, but there were kids there and everything, and people watching at home. It should have been pulled, and we are sorry.
Asked if the performance will still be available on BBC iPlayer for viewers to watch again, we were told, “Unfortunately, yes.”
