US agrees UK-style deal with Rwanda to ensure that deportation flights never take off
1 year ago
The United States has agreed a deal with Rwanda which will see deportation flights remain on the tarmac for the entirety of the Trump administration.
Yesterday Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe said his country was in early talks with the Trump administration about accepting deported migrants from the US, a deal which will apparently include a clause where flights never make it into the air.
“This is a historic day for the United States,” said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“We’re absolutely honoured that Rwanda has agreed to let our deportation planes sit on the tarmac for years and years, never to take off. It shows once again how smart this administration is at tackling illegal immigration.
“I have to admit, I was a little on the fence about it at first. But then I spoke to my good friend Rishi Sunak, who said his party’s Rwanda plan was really, really successful and won him the UK general election by a landslide. You can’t ask for more than that.
“The best part is the UK only spent £50m on flights that never took off. What a bargain that is. Aw man, I can’t wait to see the look on those migrants’ stupid faces when they realise they aren’t going anywhere.
“Absolutely priceless.”
