Stagnant economy, tumbling pound and rising borrowing costs were in our other manifesto, insist Labour

With a stagnant economy showing no signs of growth, a tumbling pound and with the cost of borrowing at its highest level in 16 years, Labour has insisted this was all in their other manifesto.
With inflation also ticking back up last month, Labour supporters have been quick to assert that they told you this was going to happen.
Labour campaigner Simon Williams told us, “Before the election, the media focused on the manifesto that said we had ‘no new taxes’ and a ‘robust plan for growth’, whilst completely ignoring the other manifest that explained there would be some new taxes, lower economic growth, a tumbling pound and higher inflation.
“Don’t blame me if your chosen media outlet didn’t share the pledges contained in that manifesto.”
Others government officials have explained that everything is actually okay because the nation’s economic growth was showing signs of becoming too strong, and that the pound was definitely overvalued, which meant consumer goods were clearly too cheap.
Williams went on, “Sure, when some of those who campaigned with me said stuff like ‘claims of higher taxes are false, and predictions we’ll flatline the economy are nonsense’, what they really meant was ‘all that stuff is actually a price worth paying for us to have a Labour government’ – which is our position today, obviously.
“Unfortunately, some of you couldn’t be trusted with the truth, sorry about that.”
