Manchester City fans up in arms after hopeless manager given new contract

Manchester City fans have reacted in fury after their team lost 4-0 at home to Spurs just days after hapless manager Pep Guardiola was awarded a 1-year contract extension.

“It’s a disgrace,” says furious City fan Simon Williams.

“We’ve lost 5 games on the spin and the board go and give this donkey a new contract. Duh! Talk about rewarding failure!

“I know supporters of other clubs think we come across as entitled but I’m old enough to remember the dark days at City under Roberto Mancini when we only won the league in the very last minute of the season.

“We can’t go back to those awful times, it’s time to admit that Pep’s style of football just doesn’t work anymore. Let’s forget about playing out from the back with an intelligent incisive passing game and get back to basics with an up-and-at’em English manager.

“If we lose next week at Liverpool then its time to shake Pep’s hand, say ‘thanks for everything’ and give it to Big Sam or Sean Dyche and start launching it into the box to the big guy up front. Simple.”

Meanwhile boss Guardiola has blamed injuries for the club’s poor run of form.

He told reporters, “It is hard to win matches when you’re forced to field a team of 11 full internationals and have only 2 or 3 world class players on the bench.

“I’m not making excuses but you can’t expect to compete at home against a Spurs team with Ben Davies and Dominic Solanke in it, it’s just not realistic.”
