Liz Truss claims she suffers from lettuce-induced PTSD

Liz Truss has blamed her reaction to the latest Led By Donkeys stunt on her diagnosis of lettuce-related PTSD.

While experts in the condition have insisted that PTSD is a very real illness that affects thousands of people recovering from highly traumatic experiences, they have yet to hear of anyone suffering from it due to a lettuce.

However, Truss’s spokesperson insisted that it was very real indeed. They told reporters, “Liz had an extremely traumatic experience at the hands of a lettuce, seeing it before her every single day, as everything she’d worked her entire life for disappeared before her very eyes.

“She can’t walk around the fresh produce aisle in Waitrose without letting out a shriek when one of those round green bastards is placed next to her.

“Even if you have some in your sandwich she’ll be forced to abandon lunch and spend a few minutes breathing into a paper bag.

“So yes, seeing an image of an iceberg lettuc slowly unfurled behind her on stage was extremely triggering.

“Yes, to the untrained eye, it looked like a politician throwing a hissy fit because people were laughing her over her catastrophic job performance – but to her, it was like an Afghanistan veteran hearing an unexpected firework.

“Yes it was, shut up.”

Meanwhile, the general public has reacted with sympathy, with supermarkets reportedly sold out of iceberg lettuces, we assume to remove them from her eyeline, rather than as part of an elaborate welcome home party.
