Conservative MP for Ashfield Lee Anderson, made famous by his assertion that you can easily feed a family for 30p a meal, has challenged anti-Brexit campaigner Steve Bray to a boxing match, because apparently, that’s how politicians argue their position these days.

We sent our reporters out onto the streets to find out what you thought about it, and this is what you told us.

“It’s an interesting idea, the pitting of political opponents against each other in some form of combat. I’d pay good money to see Rishi Sunak take on Keir Starmer in Jujitsu.”
Joanna Smith, MMA fan
“I’d be much more interested in seeing Lee Anderson challenge someone to an IQ test. We could sell tickets and call it MoronMania.”
Jerry Seinfeld, No relation
“It’s about time that the Queensbury rules were introduced to parliament. Not for me though, heaven forbid. When the rough boys want to play I always have nanny step in as my second.”
Jacob Rees-Mogg, Hedge Fund Manager
“Lee Anderson is the perfect embodiment of the principle that you can achieve anything you want in this life, as long as you can lie convincingly to a large enough group of simpletons.”
Derek Williams, Retired glassblower
“I won’t believe who is the best out of Lee Anderson and Steve Bray until one of them throws a kettle over a pub.”
Emily James, Kettle salesperson
