New Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has admitted that his lucrative new contract means he finally feels financially secure enough to start shopping at Waitrose.
The £200m striker was unveiled to the Parisian press this afternoon and was quickly asked about the size of his new £450k a week contract.
He told reporters, “I am not motivated by money, but I admit it is nice to know that I can shop in Waitrose and not worry about what happens when I reach the checkout.
“It’s the little things, like now I can even buy a few branded products and not worry about Waitrose own ‘essentials’ – things I realise the normal fan simply can not do.
“I know I’m lucky enough to be able to shop at Waitrose and not worry about my total bill, but I have worked hard to get where I am, and I assure fans I will give everything for the cause now I don’t have to worry about my shopping bill.”
Fans have reacted with delight at the signing, claiming that it shows PSG means business when it comes to player welfare.
Season ticket holder Simon Guilliames told us, “Neymar will be a revelation. The boy is a genius, and I would have happily paid him even more to play for PSG.
“Do we really want him shopping at Aldi? No, let’s leave that for the likes of those paupers playing for Man City.”
