Pop star Ed Sheeran is to be knighted after it was revealed he hit Justin Bieber in the face with a golf club.
Sheeran admitted the incident was a drunken prank that went horribly wrong, or brilliantly well, depending on your perspective.
But the accident has made the ginger Jay-Z an instant national treasure, with members of the public queuing up to praise him.
35-year-old Music fan Simon Williams echoed the opinions of many when he said “to be honest, I’ve never been much of a Sheeran fan – until now.
“When I heard he’d thwacked Bieber round the head with a 3-wood, the lad really went up in my estimation. Good on you Ed.
“As far as I’m concerned he’ll never have a more popular hit.”
It is understood Sheeran’s knighthood – awarded for services to humanity – was personally recommended by the Queen.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said, “Her Majesty is a huge Tupac fan and has been itching for someone to put plastic rapper Bieber in his place for a long time. Nice one, Sir Edward.”
