Crystal Palace supporters are deeply concerned Barcelona will try to make Sam Allardyce their next manager.
The Spanish giants were rocked earlier this week when current boss Luis Enrique announced he is to leave at the end of the season.
The decision leaves a massive question mark over who will take over the hot seat at the Nou Camp, with Allardyce’s name being mispronounced across the Spanish city.
In 2010 Allardyce was hailed as one of the best managers in Europe during a speech he made at a press conference, leaving journalists open-mouthed in admiration.
Since then his reputation has only soared higher and higher, notching up the kind of CV that even the legendary Roy Race would envy.
The long list of success includes promotion from the Championship with West Ham and guiding Sunderland away from relegation – exactly the kind of skill set that Barcelona craves.
“From the moment Sam came to Selhurst Park we always knew it would only be a matter of time before the cream of European football would try to tempt him away,” rued Palace fan Simon Williams.
“The statistics speak for themselves. When Alan Pardew left we were a lowly 17th in the Premier League. Big Sam comes along, waves his magic wand, and hey presto all of a sudden we’ve jumped to 18th.
“You do the math, us Palace fans aren’t daft you know. Big Sam is a genius, he told me so himself.”
