Everyone is determined to get the shortest day over with as quickly as possible.
The winter Equinox, which has fewer than eight hours of daylight, is widely agreed to be the most miserable day of the year and it’s a good thing it doesn’t last very long.
People suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) are reported to be particularly happy it’ll be over in a matter of hours.
SAD sufferer Simon Williams told us, “The shortest day being so short really cheers me up.
“Just think! I a few hours it’ll all be over. That makes me positively giddy.
“If there’s one thing that really makes me depressed, it’s knowing there’s only six months until the longest day and after that it’s downhill all the way.”
