Former Liverpool and Internazionale manager Rafael Benitez has urged Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to waste no time in sacking him as the Stamford Bridge club’s next manager.

With Pep Guardiola ruling himself out of being sacked by Chelsea, Benitez believes he has all the required skills to fall well short of expectations almost immediately.

“I have the necessary experience of being sacked that Chelsea are looking for,” insisted Benítez.

“When it comes to disappointing a club’s owners, I have every confidence in my ability.”

With Chelsea’s next but one manager already under pressure to deliver, Benitez insists that Abramovich should waste no time in sacking him.

“Christmas is a busy time in the English Premier League and the games come thick and fast,” he said.

“Abramovich should take steps to sack me straight away before it’s too late and the club find that they’re still in with a chance of winning trophies with only half the season played.”

“I am happy to meet with Mr Abramovich to enter into negotiations on the terms of my dismissal straight away.”

QPR boss Mark Hughes has spoken of his surprise at the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo.

“Roberto was in the job for 262 days,” he said

“I could have disappointed Mr Abramovich in less than half that time.”
