Reform members protesting outside churches after hearing priest groomed and abused multiple women

Churches across the country have reported large numbers of Reform voters gathering outside their doors in protests designed to secure the safety of women after a priest was found guilty of seventeen indecent assaults against nine women.

With groups gathering outside churches up and down the nation, Reform members have spoken out against what they see as an establishment that is cosying up to religious criminals for fear of ‘offending’ them.

Simon William, a Reform councillor from Essex, told us, “Reform is all about protecting the safety of our women and children. Which is why, when we learned there was a priest who was grooming and abusing multiple women over many years, we were left with no choice but to come out in numbers and let people know our feelings.

“And our feelings are that we will come out onto the street whenever women are threatened by those who seek to groom and abuse them. Yes, whenever.

“How many of these priests are allowed to wander our streets completely unchecked? Some of them wear dresses, which should have been a big red flag.

These churches also often give them housing, sometimes really near schools, and too many of them have been shown to be a danger to women and children. There are THOUSANDS of priests in this country, and we don’t know where most of them are at any point in time.

“One sexual predator priest is too many, and this government needs to do something about it. We can not stand idly by while the government protects these groomers and abusers.”

When asked why Reform had chosen to protest outside a church now, and not before, we were told, “Well, because we’d be considered massive hypocrites if we didn’t – wouldn’t we? We can’t go around protesting to protect women and children, and then ignore something like this.

“That would be absurd.”
