Freak! Man opposes sexual harassment despite not having wife and daughter

Man against sexual harrassment

A man who has claimed that he believes sexual harassment is a bad thing is not to be trusted after it emerged that he doesn’t have either a wife or daughter and so, by all reasonable behaviour, should have no opinion on the matter.

Simon Williams, an amateur astrophysicist from Chelmsford, Essex made the controversial statement whilst out with a friend.

“Yeah, I was there,” explained Mr Williams’ friend, who preferred not to be named.

“There was something on the TV about sexual harassment and, as I’m a husband and father of a daughter, I mentioned that I thought it was a terrible thing. Then – and this was weird – Si just, you know, agreed.

“I was like ‘Si, you haven’t got a wife or a daughter, so why would you have an opinion on sexual harassment?’ and he started talking about caring about other people and the rights of all humans and stuff.”

The friend, who would still prefer not to be named, immediately realised that something didn’t add up.

“It was weird. I mean, if you don’t have a wife and daughter then women getting sexually harassed isn’t really anything to do with you is it? I mean, why would you have an opinion on it?

“I was certainly never that bothered by it until we had little Cassie and I had to consider what it would be like if she grew up and got sexually harassed and I thought – ‘no, sexual harassment is actually a really bad thing’.

“Si’s not been through any of that. I don’t know. It’s weird.”

It is assumed that Mr Williams’ professed opposition to sexual harassment is just basic human empathy and, therefore, he should be shunned from society as some sort of freak.
