New Mad Max film to be set in post-apocalyptic contemporary Trump-era America

The producers of the Mad Max series have announced that the new instalment will retain it’s post-apocalyptic setting, but will take place in contemporary America.

“We figure that if we start now then by the time the film’s out, America will be a post-apocalyptic wasteland,” said producer George Miller.

Previous instalments have all been set in the future, after an unspecified apocalypse.

“Yeah, we’re not going to need to do that this year. Trump’s in power, he’s ramping up the Nuclear arsenal, a contemporary post-apocalyptic America is going to be incredibly relevant to a lot of people.”

It is also understood that the latest instalment will see the return of Mel Gibson, who was attracted by one particular aspect.

“The chance to be really, really racist,” confirmed the What Women Want star.

“Normally, I get in a lot of trouble for being really, really racist. But if we’re setting this in a contemporary Trump-era US then it’s not only going to a post-apocalyptic wasteland, but really racist post-apocalyptic wasteland.

“Which’ll be brilliant.”

The makers of the similarly post-apocalyptically themed Fallout video games issued the following statement.

“Shit, I wish we’d thought of that.”
