Trump supporters to continue with comforting misapprehension that other countries have been paying the tariffs in same way Mexico ‘paid for the wall’

Donald Trump’s Supreme Court rebuke over his tariffs has been loudly criticised by those supporters who still don’t know how tariffs work.

With widespread belief among the MAGA crowd that many countries have been “paying” to send goods to the United States, Trump-supporting consumers have been left in shock when realising that everything coming from abroad just got a bit more expensive, because that’s how tariffs actually work.

Non-moron, and professional import exporter, Chuck Williams told us, “If the United States puts a 30% tariff on Chinese imports, then that tariff is paid by the company bringing in the goods from China – i.e. me – not by China. I can then choose to absorb that extra cost, or I can pass some or all of that extra cost on to you, the customer.

“Ultimately, that tariff is paid by me, the American importing company, which means I can pass that cost on to you, the American consumer.

“Which is why so many MAGA officials are panicking about the idea of tariff refunds – not because they’ll go to foreign nations, but because they’ll go to us – American businesses.

“Do you know who definitely hasn’t been paying a single penny towards the tariffs? China. Not one Chinese cent goes into the US coffers.

“It’s much like the fabled wall. If you think Mexico paid for it, then you’re likely to believe China has been paying the cost of these tariffs.

“You would be completely wrong, of course, but it must be nice and comforting to think otherwise.”
