Delays to deliveries of tanks from Germany to Ukraine were due to the satnav being set to Paris, it has emerged this morning.
Blaming ‘force of habit’, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said the destination marked on the tank’s navigation systems was hard-wired in and had taken almost a year to reset.
“It never occurred to us that anyone might want to drive one of our tanks anywhere else,” an apologetic Scholz told reporters to explain the delays.
“It was actually impossible to change the destination and we had to replace the entire system to make them go anywhere else.
“We even had them fitted with special soft tracks for driving down the Champs-Elysee so we didn’t damage the road surface, and that’s taken us a while to replace as well.”
