Inflation is through the roof, but so are the gameshow prizes.
ITV has taken note of the situation and will therefore launch a month-long run of “Who Wants to be a Billionaire?”
“Inevitable, really” shrugged Simon Williams, ITV’s head of programming.
“Back in the day, a million pounds was a truly life-changing amount of money.
“The way we’re going these days, you’ll be lucky to get a flat in Coventry with that sort of money. So we’re going with billionaire instead.
“We’re really, REALLY hoping nobody wins ever. It would cripple us to the extent we’ll know what it’s like to be you.
“You should see some of the final questions we’ve got lined up… I’m pretty sure one of them is in Welsh.”
Citizen, Hayley Rice, commented, “A billion pounds would just about see us through, I reckon.
“Don’t get me wrong, a million would be lovely, but it’s not jump-up-and-down-tell-your-boss-to-swivel money.
“That’s enough to buy a new car and immediately crash it into the dealership front window just for a laugh, and then get away with it.
“That’s the dream.”
