Parliament will be give the opportunity to debate whether Boris Johnson misled parliament when he told MPs that no rules where broken in Downing Street.

The debate will take place on Thursday, but we sent out reporters out on to the street to find out what you thought about it today. This is what you told us:

“Nothing will happen. I mean, if I was being accused of something like lying to parliament, I’d feel pretty comfortable if I had 359 people who worked for me that I could call on to find me completely innocent of the accusation.”
Deborah Leas, Con Artist
“We all know how this will go, there will be accusations, there will be some absolutely stone-cold irrefutable facts which prove he lied to parliament, and then all the Tory MPs will vote to say he’s done nothing wrong. So what’s the point?”
Mike Davidson, Professional Fatalist
“I do wish people would stop taking things that the Prime Minister has said on the record and using them in ways that make him look bad. Do we really want our prime ministers saying nothing at all for fear of being called a liar when they speak in mistruths and deceit? Because that’s what will happen.”
Jacob Rees-Mogg, Workhouse Owner (retired)
“Well, either Boris is too stupid to understand his own laws, or he’s a liar who deliberately misled parliament. How long will it take MPs to decide? Five minutes? Either way, I’m sure the Tory MPs will insist he is clearly perfect prime minister material and therefore has their complete and unwavering support.”
Derek Hill, Daytime Astronomer
“I’m not sure I follow parliamentary procedure all that well, but if I understand it correctly, voting to say he DID mislead parliament could cause a constitutional crisis, and lead to a general election that would see many Tory MPs lose their jobs – and some people STILL think Tory MPs will vote for this?”
Cheryl Naismith, Constitutional Lawyer
