Currently out of work manager Steve Bruce is definitely the right man to keep Manchester United in the premier league, according to season ticket holders today.

Just hours after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was relieved of his managerial duties after his side was hammered 4-1 by newly-promoted Watford, worried fans are desperate to welcome their former player as a necessary steady hand required to prevent the unthinkable.

Stretford End regular Simon Williams told us, “The stark reality is that we’re pretty crap right now, and we have to arrest the slide before something awful happens.  It’s almost Christmas and we’re only eight points above the relegation places.

“All this talk of Pochettino is fine, but does he really have the experience we need in a fight to avoid relegation? I don’t think so.

“That’s why I think people are too quick to dismiss Steve Bruce, who could probably keep this team in the premier league with one arm behind his back.

“He was relegated as a player with Norwich, he relegated both Birmingham City and Hull City, and he couldn’t get a team with a £100m superstar out of the Championship – he is JUST what we need.

“Add to that a thousand professional matches as a manager without ever winning a trophy and you have to say he is the perfect fit for what this club needs right now.”

Meanwhile, fans of the other nineteen clubs in the Premier League are currently getting cramps in their hands from keeping their fingers crossed that Bruce is swiftly appointed as the caretaker manager at Old Trafford.
