Mysterious metal monolith appears in UK and is instantly given parking ticket

monolith appears on UK High Street

A strange metal object has been issued with a parking ticket after suddenly materialising on double yellow lines in a British town.

The cuboidal obelisk, apparently made of stainless steel and measuring around 10-feet tall and 18 inches wide, was spotted on Oxford Road in Reading this morning, and has already had a parking ticket stuck on it.

Traffic warden Simon Williams, who issued the ticket, told us, “As clearly stated in the Highway Code, double yellow lines mean no waiting at any time, unless there are signs that specifically indicate seasonal restrictions.

“My job is to make sure that the urban roads run as freely as possible, without any disruptions or blockages to traffic flow, however mysterious and ominous they may be at first glance.”

He went on, “I noticed that the monolith was also lacking a Vehicle Registration Number, so it is likely to be uninsured, and as such, I feel it my duty to inform both the DVLA and Thames Valley Police so that they can take appropriate action.”

Passerby Christopher James commented, “After these appeared in Utah, California and Romania, it was probably just a matter of time before one popped up in England. I just can’t help but feel sorry for it that it didn’t appear somewhere more scenic.

“And this being the Oxford Road, it’s not even the weirdest thing I’ve seen here.”
