New York-born Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has congratulated President Trump on a rare moment of self-awareness, by agreeing that the government where she’s from is a total catastrophe.

After Trump tweeted about AOC to tell her that where she’s from is “crime-infested” due to a failing government, Ms Ocasio-Cortez said she couldn’t agree more.

She told reporters, “Being born and raised in New York – as I am – I couldn’t agree more that the current Trump government is a complete and utter disaster.

“We’ve got a racist with numerous accusations of sexual assault at the top of the pile in the White House, and he’s surrounded himself with sycophants by giving many of the top jobs to his kids like some petty despot.

“He also relies on his own personal propaganda TV channel to try to keep the people happy. To everyone looking in, he’s a complete disaster, who has failed to keep his promises and continues to lie to the American people in the hope they’ll keep voting for him.

“I’ll be honest, I never thought I’d hear him admit his own administration was such a failure. He doesn’t seem capable of that level of introspection, but there’s a first time for everything I guess.”

President Trump later doubled down by insisting that the foreigners who need to go home and sort out their own countries first do not include his German grandfather, Scottish mother, the Czech mother of his children or his current Slovenian wife.

He added, “When I say these folks need to ‘go home’ I think we all know which type of foreigner we’re actually talking about.”
