Former Brexit secretary and Tory leadership hopeful Dominic Raab has refused to rule out razing the Houses of Parliament to the ground with barrels of gunpowder in order to secure a no-deal Brexit.
After being told that prorogueing parliament was not an option, Raab insisted there were other ways to sideline parliament to ensure a no-deal Brexit.
He explained, ‘The people clearly indicated in the 2016 referendum that they wanted a no-deal Brexit with the selloff of the NHS and resulting martial law to control any rioting. It really couldn’t have been clearer.
“If that traitor John Bercow thinks he can halt the will of the people through ‘parliamentary process’, or whatever the hell he’s been bleating about, he’s got another thing coming.
“I will personally place fifty barrels of gunpowder in the basement of the Houses of Parliament and detonate them, if that’s what it takes to get a no-deal Brexit across the line.
“Blowing it all to hell in the name of democracy is something I would have no problem doing. If parliament chooses to exert its sovereignty in a way that I don’t like, then I’m not sure what other options I have.”
When reminded that historical precedent would mean he would have to be hung, drawn and quartered for even considering this, Raab commented, “Honestly, the 2016 referendum couldn’t have been clearer.
“The people VOTED for the destruction of Parliament through fire and explosion and anyone obstructing this is a traitor who should be hung drawn and quartered themselves.
“This is 2019, after all.”
