Aston Villa WAGs on lockdown

Former Chelsea defender John Terry has joined Aston Villa, leading to the wives and girlfriends of the current Villa squad being put under house arrest.

The former Chelsea lothario has joined the Midlands club on a one-year deal, with friends of the centre-back insisting that will be plenty of time for him to get to know his new teammates’ partners.

Former teammate Simon Williams told us, “He’s a 37-year-old about to get the run-around in the rough and tumble of Championship, so we’d expect him to be out injured for a pretty large part of next season.

“All that time sat around when his teammates are playing away from home? That’s what JT lives for.

“There is no-one better in the modern game at exploiting gaps like that, and even at 37, he’s still got the legs required to do the sort of chasing needed to get a result.

As news of the signing broke, home security experts were seen arriving at the homes of Jack Grealish, James Chester and Henri Lansbury to add extra precautions to ensure unwanted visitors would be prevented from making unannounced appearances.

A club source said other players had taken similar measures, telling us, “Most of the WAGs are now housebound, and prevented from even going near the windows or sharing any photos on social media. It’s just not worth the risk.

“The only player who seems looks about John’s arrival is Gabby Agbonlahor, who seems desperate to join him for a night out on the pull.”
