Prince Philip could lose millions in state handouts after choosing to leave his job, according to the local benefits office.

The Duke is facing sanction after ignoring government warnings that you can’t choose not to work and still retain your state benefits.

A spokesperson for the Department for Work and Pensions explained, “We simply can’t have people leaving jobs they don’t like just because they’ve had enough, and see them still getting their government handouts – what sort of society do you think this is?

“Philip will be called in for an interview, and if he can’t offer an exceptionally good excuse for leaving his current role then we will have no choice but to sanction him to the full extent of the law, which is 26 weeks of no benefits by the way.”

Voter Simon Williams told us, “It’s only fair, I’m sick of my taxes paying for layabouts who don’t want to do a hard days graft.

“I don’t care how he’ll go about putting food on the table; I guess he’ll just have to sponge off his missus.”
