MPs have promised to tackle tax avoidance by Britain’s wealthiest people for the 310th year running.

Promising to do something while using words like ‘determined’ and ‘tough’ has been the strategy of successive governments since Parliament was formed, but now MPs insist they’re definitely committed to a fairer system.

“We’re determined to get tough on wealthy tax avoiders,” said a government spokesperson.

“We’ve already committed to producing more scathing reports that feature words such as ‘unacceptable’ and ‘crackdown’.

“If you’re wealthy and not paying your fair share of tax then be in no doubt we won’t hesitate to describe you as morally wrong.

“No previous government has done more than this one to create the illusion something is being done.”
