Labour leadership challenger Owen Smith has revealed that he owns a rare 12-inch vinyl of PJ & Duncan’s Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble.
Smith told reporters about the record after Jeremy Corbyn had claimed he didn’t know who Ant & Dec are.
He explained, “Huge fan, massive fan. Those boys know how to bang out a tune, that’s for certain.
“Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble is a seminal classic, and what left-of-centre political operative and music aficionado wouldn’t have a copy?
“Mine just happens to be the 12-inch disco remix on vinyl with a picture of PJ & Duncan’s faces pressed into it.
“If nothing else, it says that I know what this country needs; someone up there wrecking the mic at Prime Minister’s Questions, and someone who is ready to ‘rumble’ at a moment’s notice.
“That someone is me, obviously.
“As my boys, PJ & Duncan said, ‘Give us the aspiration we can cause a sensation’ and that’s what I want the voters to take away from this – with me as Labour leader we can cause a sensation.
“Psyche. Hang on, no, not that last bit, sorry.”
