Couple both secretly believe they are the ‘clever one’ in the relationship

Couple both secretly convinced they are the clever one

New research has found that a Basingstoke couple are both secretly convinced that they are the clever one in their relationship.

Following extensive interviews, it became clear that although it is never voiced publicly, each is 100% sure that their partner isn’t quite as bright as them.

Man Simon Williams told us, “Jo is bright, of course, I wouldn’t have married someone stupid, but I think we both know that when it comes down it, I’m a little bit brighter. Not that I’d ever rub her face in it by saying it out loud, obviously.”

Whereas his wife, Jo Williams told us, “Simon is bright, of course, I wouldn’t have married someone stupid, but I think we both know that when it comes down it, I’m a little bit brighter. Not that I’d ever rub his face in it by saying it out loud, obviously.”

Simon went on, “We have the odd intellectual disagreement, about the issues of the day, current affairs and so on, and sometimes I’ll let her win those, as it’s just easier than using my superior intellect to win myself, again. It would only upset her.

“That’s what being the clever one in a relationship is all about, knowing when to let the other one think they’ve won.”

Jo concluded, “Sometimes I let him win an argument, as it wouldn’t do his male pride any good at all if I kept outmanoeuvring him, intellectually speaking.

“It’s only right that as the clever one in the relationship, I let him feel like a winner every now and again. It’s why this relationship works.”

At the time of writing, friends of the couple confirmed that both are a little on the dim side.
