Education Secretary Nicky Morgan has claimed that leaving the EU will create a ‘lost generation’ similar to the lost generation being created by her reforms.

Morgan’s intervention comes hot on the heels of Jeremy Hunt’s claim that Brexit would threaten the future of the NHS, sparking uncertainty about which side he is campaigning for.

With widespread opposition to the government’s plans to force all schools to become academies, Mrs Morgan warned, “If parents vote to leave, they’ll be voting to gamble with their children’s future outside of the European Union.

“I want to gamble with your children’s future from within the European Union.”

The Leave campaign responded to the claims, describing them as “desperate”.

“Ruining the future of young people can be achieved regardless of whether we are in or out of the European Union,” said a a Vote Leave spokesman.

“That’s why when we talk about our children’s future, we focus on immigration but don’t talk about climate change.”
