Everton’s first win at Old Trafford in 21 years has seen many neutral fans offering words of comfort to Manchester United supporters, before giving in to uncontrollable fits of laughter.

Some fans claimed to be able to keep a straight face for up to ten seconds before collapsing with the giggles, though evidence has been scarce.

“They’ve had a bad start but you can never write them off and I’m sure Moyes will come good.” said Liverpool supporter Simon Williams, with a tear rolling down his cheek as he tried desperately to stifle a laugh.

“There’s a long way to go in the season and…No, I’m sorry, I can’t do this anymore.”

Simon then curled into a ball on the floor and started shaking with laughter, before rushing off because he had actually pissed himself a little bit.

Manchester United defeat

The 1-0 defeat against Everton leaves United 12 points behind league leaders Arsenal, and also only 12 points above the relegation zone in 9th place.

Having seen their fans remain insufferably smug about their team’s dominance of the Premier League over recent years, rivals are basking in the opportunity to be equally gracious.

“Ha! No, I’m sorry, I can get it together. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!” explained Paul Kidd, an Arsenal fan.

“I can do this, I can, just give me a moment. Right. I’m sure they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the HA HA HA! It’s no use, I’m sorry.”

Everton fan Mike Matthews told us, “Many times David Moyes promised us a win at Old Trafford, we just didn’t think he’d have to leave in order to deliver it.  Which was very nice of him actually.”

Meanwhile, Marouane Fellaini is reported to have turned up for training with Everton this morning, hoping that nobody would actually remember he had left.
