Iran has unveiled what it says is its first domestically built unmanned – or drone – bomber, which it has nicknamed the ‘Ambassador of Death’.

It said it had a range of 1,000km (620 miles) and could carry two 250-pound (115kg) bombs, or a precision bomb of 500 pounds.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told reporters, “This jet is a messenger of honour and human generosity and a saviour of mankind, before being a messenger of death for enemies of mankind.”

We sent our reporters out onto the streets to find out what you thought about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad creating ever more dangerous weapons.

Woman on the Street“I don’t see any reason to be overly concerned.  I grew up on a street with an Ambassador of Death, and he hardly ever killed anyone.”

Maureen Davies, Community Activist

Man on the Street“Well, I admire their stance in stoning to death adulterous women.  Are they also planning to drop these bombs on adulterous women?  That seems more than fair enough to me.”

John Smith, Recently Divorced

Man on the Street“Look, it’s fine, come and speak to me again when they invent a flying death machine that can reach Surrey.”

Aaron Sutton, Surrey Resident

Woman on the Street“He is just another lunatic in a long list of lunatics with access to dangerous weapons, and the others turned out just fine.  If you ignore all the wars and millions dead and that.”

Agnes O’Sullivan, Republican
