John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono has been given a lifetime achievement award by Mojo magazine for reasons yet to become apparent to anyone.
Mojo chief editor Phil Alexander, who hosted the event, praised Ono, 76, as “a huge influence on various stuff and that,”
“She was obviously married to one of the most famous men in the world, but I’m sure she also did some other stuff too,”
“Which is what this honour is for – not the ‘being married to John Lennon’ thing.”
Surprise
Music lovers have expressed surprise at the award, with many not even realising Yoko Ono had ever released a record.
“Did John do it for her?” said Jane Simpson, 37 of Sheffield.
“Was it any good? I don’t know anyone who’s ever heard anything of hers.” said Dave Banks 34 of Donacaster.
“She’s brilliant!” said massive fan of Ono, Sean Lennon, 33.
“She would have gotten this award even if she’d never met my Dad, definitely.”
