Oscar-nominee Angelina Jolie has confided to close friends that she is ‘not arsed’ about losing out to eventual Best Actress winner – Reading’s Kate Winslet.
Jolie, 33, was considered a strong contender for the gong, but has reacted with complete ambivalence to the Academy’s snub of her role in The Changeling.
“I didn’t even want an Oscar,” she is reported to have said, “and anyone who says different is lying.”
“In fact, I wouldn’t even have got out of my seat if I had won. As a sort of dirty protest.”
As the after-party began in earnest Jolie was overheard at the bar telling anyone who would listen that she didn’t care about not winning. At all.
“All best actors don’t have an Oscar. So I am just like them. Only hotter.”
When asked by reporters if she had any thoughts on winner Winslet’s emotional portrayal of war-criminal Hannah Schmitz, Jolie responded, “It was alright.”
“But she doesn’t get to go home to Brad Pitt does she? So who’s the real winner here, Eh?”
