Chaka Demus & Pliers keeping diary clear for next year’s Nobel Prize ceremony

Chaka Demus & Pliers

Following the decision to award the Nobel Prize for Literature to Bob Dylan, Chaka Demus & Pliers are amongst a host of top music acts who have cleared their diary for the 2017 Nobel Prize.

“I don’t think that either of us would put us on the same pedestal as Bob Dylan,” said Mr Demus.

“But, as is the case with so many things, he’s kicked down the door, and now I think that serious musicians like myself and Pliers should consider ourselves to be in the mix.”

Chaka Demus and Pliers would most likely be awarded for their strong run of early nineties pop-reggae crossover hits like Murder She Wrote and I Wanna Be Your Man‘.

Their debut British hit Tease Me contains the lyrics:

Tease me with your love, until I lose control
Take all my body and me soul, oh girl.

Which many people consider to be easily the match of Bob Dylan’s ‘Wiggle Wiggle’.

It is understood that Olly Murs, the Cheeky Girls and Mr Blobby could all be in contention for the 2017 literature prize but Chris Martin may have to wait a little longer.

“Coldplay?” Chuckled a member of the committee.

“Let’s not be silly.”
