David Bowie’s private art collection mainly porn

David Bowie porn collection

David Bowie’s private art collection has been revealed to the public for the first time and is largely made up of porn.

It consists of several hundred copies of Razzle, Mayfair and Knave, a VHS library of French films taped off Channel Four when they still did the red triangle, and what appears to be the world’s largest collection of nudey playing cards.

“It is a…surprising art collection,” said Oliver Barker, Chairman of Sotheby’s Europe.

“When we were offered the collection to auction, we were expecting Hirst, Moore and Duchamp pieces.

“Not Madonna’s Sex book from the eighties, with some of the pages stuck together.”

However, some experts were thrilled.

“Art or not, it’s a fantastic collection,” said pornography historian Simon Williams.

“There’s a fantastically rare copy of Fiesta with one of the world’s first readers’ wives section. I believe it features Michelle of Broadstairs bending over a 1971 Ford Capri coupe.

“Now, you don’t get that in the Saatchi collections.”

The collection has gone on display at Sotheby’s in London and will be sold in November.

Currently, Sotheby’s are weighing up whether to sell it at auction or to just stick the lot in a cardboard box and sell it at a car boot sale for £50 o.n.o.
